Using "Shrink" plastic as Embellishments or Charms

Hello Dear Stamper Friends:
The firts time that I discovered this product I was amazed...
Do you know it?
It is called "Polyshrink" or "Shrinky Dinks" plastic.
It comes in white, clear, frosted, black and they are sheets of plastic that when heated they Shrink...

I decided to show you how to use this fun product first as a charm ...here to ID my scissors or any other craft tool , specially when you are in crops or classes and everybody has same items this is a good way to spot your things and not lose them...

In this picture I show you how to use it:
1st, you die cut or cut the shape that you like in this plastic, I use a Memory Box die
2nd stamp or color image ("Copic" markers, "Prismacolor" pencils or  permanent inks) ,
3rd, make a hole to insert ribbon, and lastly  heat emboss with  heat gun the plastic
the result is that it shrinks...

NOTE: if you sand the plastic before stamping; your charm will not be shiny...so if you want it shiny, skip this step... mine is sanded so it looks frosted...

You can make fun little embellishements to wear in bracelets or put in your cards or scrapbook pages...see the actual size of the dies and the end result...

Here I decided to put it as an embellishements for a card on the "thread spool"..which is perfect for somebody who likes to sew, knit, crochet etc... and send it on a birthday, for a thank you or a simple hello card...

In this card I used dies from past and current collection releases of Memory Box...see supplies below...I stamped the botanical stamps directly into the designer's paper, from Memory Box too.

These paper pads are so pretty, soft and feminine and they come in 6x6...
and Voilà!...

THANK YOU so much for the lovely comments that I read every day.
I will be back to share with you some more projects ...keep on crafting...

  1. Thanks so much for sharing your instrux Bibiana. I purchased a pkg. of the Shrink Plastic thingy YEARS ago and never used it. I thought I had to shrink them in the oven....waste electricity. Now I must try it using my heat embossing tool. Woo-hoo, thanks again. Love your card too, so beautiful.

  7. What fun embellishments you created with the shrinky dink Bibiana! I've made them a few times and I find that sometime they shrink nicely and sometimes they curl up and stick! but it is fun to see the big item shrink down to very small!! Thanks for sharing how you made these!

    Bises.

  9. Absolutely brilliant idea, I have charms I make on most of the tools I take when doing classes. I love this idea and could be an idea for a class in itself. The only thing is Shrink Plastic scares me a little in case it does not work out the way I want.
I have that cotton reel Die and initials must have a go later
Thank you for the easy to follow Tutorial
    Have a Great Day
