Easter is coming up so quickly, next Sunday is Palm Sunday...
In Spain, France, Italy...Latin America and in general, catholic countries, the whole week is a very important celebration starting on Sunday...
We called it "Holy Week" (Semana Santa)... and in a lot of countries schools and some government institutions you have the whole week off...and lots and lots of re-enactments, processions, observations, masses etc...
If you want to read more about "Holy Week", specially in Seville, Spain where the celebrations are the most renown, Click HERE, for a "Wikipedia" article and lots of links to other related readings...
Here in the USA, it feels a little bit different, Although Easter Sunday is pretty big and "unusual" for us, as we do not celebrate with the famous egg hunts and rabbits...but it is still a joyful occasion anyways that I like to celebrate as well...
Since I live here...my house has lots of eggs and rabbits decorating the house :)
Onto the card...
I made this Easter Egg card as part of my contributions as a Design Team member (DTM) for Memory Box at My Spanish blog "A Crear Se dijo" ...You can viewed HERE, for more details... and remember you can always use the "Google translate"
The technique that I used is the "masking" one , which consist in making a "mask" either with masking tape, paper (my case, see photo below) , post-it notes or other material to cover the image that you want to be in the front...(in my card the eggs are in the front) in order to stamp other images (my leaves) on top to give the illusion that they are on the back and hence creating dimension on a flat surface...and not stamping on the main image (in my sample the eggs) ...
TIPS use different texture papers...
1- I use "Mirror" paper, view another card sample HERE, (creating the illusion of a shadow) and HERE (for a more elegant look)
2- I use Wallpaper, because I liked the texture (raised and feels like plastic) click to enlarge photo...check your hardware store, sometimes they give away small samples of wallpapers that they can no longer sell...so you are Recycling in a way :) too!
3- I use the remaining little pieces from the die cut (negatives) to embellish the other 2 eggs to make them look a little bit different...
4- I use the "masking" technique with the "branch border" stamping many times to create a nest...
5- Decorate your envelope too...
Ok hope you like this post...
