Partial die cutting...
this technique uses the same idea as the technique that I shared right here last week with the card on how to make
a Flower border edge die
using a NON-border Die
but instead of making a border edge card I die cut partially the wings of this butterfly to make them pop from the card...the butterfly is only attached to the card by the center
I posted this card at the French blog: "Un brin de Créativité" for my DT assignments for Memory Box
Step 1;
place the die onto the paper, secure it with tape and mark with pencil on both sides where do you want the cut to end...
step 2:
recipe of the sandwich using the "Cuttlebug"
plate A+ plate C+ die (ridges up)+ paper + plate B (the plate B stops at the arrow)
note: remember the edge of plate B is where you want the cut to stop
step 3; one wing cut, it pops from the card
step 4; repeat same process on the other side of the card. Both wings popped up
I used 3 different stencils from Memory Box...raindrops, Tessatina and leaves
make sure to ONLY stencil the background, not the wings...
the leaves where sponged with 2 colors of ink : green and Black
Make sure to mask the places that you do not want to show...
A green butterfly was placed on the back
A view from the top..
A last view...the wings pop up with this technique of partial die cutting...
I hope I gave you another idea on how to stretch your dies
Thanks for the visit
and the lovely comments that you leave me...
see you next time...
