When I saw the "tall tapper candle" die from Memory Box, I knew that I wanted to paired it with the "glowing candles" one to make an advent wreath card...
the custom for Catholics is to make a wreath with 5 candles in 3 main colors following the colors for this season according to the church; 3 candles in purple, one in pink and the center one in white. These candles will be lit each one on every Sunday ending on Dec. 25th when all the 5 candles will be lit. (the 5th one in my card supposedly is behind the tall white one)
a close up of the flowers, that I took from 2 other dies...see supplies below...
these are the supplies that I used...
The background was made with a plate die that embosses...(see photo)
This plate cuts the edges but the center part is for embossing only, it does NOT cut the design...this plate works the same as an embossing folder with the added featured that it cuts the edges of the paper...see photo below for the embossed effect!
I added some pearls in the shape of a flame and molded some flowers...
a last view...
Thanks for the visit

Lovely card...so beautifully done. And brought back great memories. I used to have some Advent candles that I used...and of course, this post brought up a question for me...What did I ever do with those? smile...(probably stored them somewhere that they melted...if I know me?
ReplyDeletehow funny..yes! It has happened to me too...forgotten candles and melted ones!!! LOL
DeleteI too am Catholic. This is a stunning card. I agree it is beautifully done. I like when you explain traditions alone with how you made the card. - Jim

ReplyDeleteA lovely post with a brilliantly executed card. Love the candle dies, but don't have the tall taper just yet. It was good to read the history of the Advent candles, and yours were certainly beautiful with the inlays of color. TFS
