Valentine's Owl...

Hello Dear Stamper Friends:

I love owls and this cute stamp set from “Hero Arts” was perfect for a Valentine’s card…
if you want to see cute pictures of all kinds of owls go to my Pinterest gallery…

Today, I would like to mention several elements from this card…that you can apply to your creations!

1- Use as many stamps as you can from one stamp set.  I this case I use 4 from this particular set…

2- Create your own pattern background papers using stamps:
By repeatedly stamping one image on your cardstock you can create a pattern, in this case I match the color ink with the paper and in the second half of the card I use a darker color ink to give contrast…

3- How to make the most of your dies:
You do not have what you need? Manipulate/stretch your dies.
In this card the "bubble" die for the sentiment was too long for the sentiment so I shrink it… and the label 16 is used partially

Step by step how to "use partially" one die
- place your paper off like shown...die cut...

- result: partial paper cut...

Step by step how to "shrink" the size of the die cut to fit a particular sentiment...
this is the original size die cut...

Place the sentiment on top to measure the size of the sentiment that I want to die cut...
remove the sentiment/stamp  and  run through the machine again...

you will have this...a "shrink" sentiment... see photo

Look at this other post for more ideas on stretching your dies: http://stampingwithbibiana.blogspot.com/search/label/sympathy

4- Make a fake banner; put side by side a strait glued line of rope with your chain border die (in this case the hearts).

5-   Look at the stamp (the image) and see if you can do something with it…

Here I cut with a craft knife the wings and tuck underneath the heart…

TECHNIQUE USED:
I use the technique: “Multicolor Stamping Effect” to color the stamp. I use my ink pad as well as some daubers. Ink up your stamp in one color, (brown ink) then use a sponge dauber to add a different color (green for wings and brown to head) in the areas you want to give a multi tone effect …you can use as well directly the ink pads. When done inking, remember to huff at your stamp to moisten the inks.

Owl inked with "brown" ink first...then I use the dauber to apply "green" ink on the wings..the photo does not show the 2 tone color...

Supplies:
Hope you liked it!
See you soon for another project...
