After the "glitch" that I had yesterday in my blog with the banner...I am less anxious today...
although I do not know what to do anyways next time that it happens again...
Today, I am showing to you another of the new dies released for the 2014 collection of Memory Box dies and stencils...I choose this "perky Poppy" die and I decided to use the very old craft of "Parchment Craft"...or "tarjetería española", as we know it in Latin America.
I learned this technique from my mother! She leaned it back In Colombia...
This ancient technique is from Europe from the 15th or 16th century and it seems that it came to Latin America through the nuns...
I remember seeing this type of technique being used commonly for baptism souvenirs, first communion cards or confirmation ones..
I have not done it in a long time just because it takes so much time and patience to do it...but I decided to give it a try with this new die...
I promise to make a tutorial for this one and I will explain better the techniques involved...
it requires a little bit of planning... so be on the look for it...
As of today, I can say that "Parchment Crafting" involves, embossing, perforating, cutting and coloring on parchment paper...
I used the "poppy" die as an embossing tool...!!! I will explain in detail when I will do the tutorial...
I hope you like it...
In the meantime if you want more info on this craft, you can search here in the USA for "Pergamano" which is a brand name, that carries all the tools and products to make "Parchment Craft".
Thanks for your visit...keep in touch

ReplyDeleteIt is absolutely gorgeous Bibiana, you really master this craft well. I´ve been doing parchment for many many years. Actually it was the first kind of cardmaking, I ever did and the only one for many years, until a cataract made it really hard, because I couldn´t see the tiny details anymore, but now I´ve just had my eyesurgery here last summer, so maybe I should see, if I still master all techniques after not fdoing it for about 6 years now, but seing yours just made we want to try again, IF I can find enough time, cause as you say, it really takes a long time to make just one, if you want to do a proper job on it, and you sure did on this one, it´s sooo beautiful. I´ve never used dies with it thoug, so that´s new and something to try, I thin he he he
ReplyDeleteThanks sooo much for great inspiration here again.
Cette carte est une vraie petite merveille !!! Bravo.
ReplyDeleteBisous.

ReplyDeleteBibiana, Thank you for introducing me to this beautiful paper art. It has taken patience but I also find it therapeutic. Such gorgeous results so almost every card I make includes a little of this on it. Still have much to learn about coloring and more tools to buy. Thanks again!
