I loooove ATC's (Artist Trading Cards) and I wish to do more of them...very practical to handle, easy to make, cute and real little pieces of "Art"...
My First thought and project was to make one ATC for the Fall (3rd ATC on the right; top photo)
with the lamp post (gold embossed) the birds and the pumpkins... see photo below...
I was so pleased with the result that I decided to create a second one showcasing Paris, because it is one of my favorite cities in the world and because I had this "Tour Eiffel" perfect to depict "La Ville-Lumière/the city of light".
I used the same colors and theme (blue flourish, birds, clouds, ferns, colors etc)
Having finished the 2, I said to myself , hey these 2 ATC's need a third companion; one that will link the 2 of them ... and that's how "My ATC Triptych/(3 panels)" came to life!!!
I like very much triptychs because they can tell a history...
My history: is Having a stroll in "Paris in the Fall" among trees, city lights with the Eiffel Tower near by, listening to the birds singing makes you to have a "happy day"! (sentiment on the side) this really reminds me my strolls in the "Champ de Mars" (which is a public green area / park where the Eiffel Tower is located)
I added this frame on the back and The loops on the "Tiffany" frame came very handy to link them with the gold cord
Memory Box has various stamps with small images and dies ideal to make this kind of projects and I think this is something that we overlook...we think automatically dies and stamps for card making in general but we tend to forget that we can make ATC's too!
Notice that some stamps come with a side stamp ..I love this feature, the fence (stripes) comes with the tiny clouds on the side ..they are so cute...and ALL the sentiments come with a side stamp!
(I used on the panel on the center the sentiment "happy day" and it comes with the musical note on the side)
HOW TO: My sentiments where just hand written with a brown "Copic" marker on parchment paper and rolled on the top...
After sponging all the background, I distress the edges with "Walnut" distress ink, gold emboss the main image, added some liquid pearls, a flourish flower cut in turquoise glitter paper and some other die cuts...(birds pumpkins)
Definition of an ATC: "Artist Trading Cards" are miniature works of art measuring 2 1/2"x 3 1/2" to fit card collector pockets, sleeves or sheets and are usually traded or exchanged. The Movement began in Switzerland and this movement has world wide followers who like to swap and collect Art from Around the world. They can help yourself to express your style using your preferred medium or media. And usually include on the back your information, the technique used, how many you made, date, signature etc...they are unique, original and handmade of course!
For the ATC enthusiasts out there, "Lost Coast Designs" carries a series of stamps specially sized for for making ATC's...check it out! and this set of rubber stamps specially designed for the back of your ATC's are perfect to finish your project...
Mine, fold to be sent flat and tied on the front with the gold cord
a last view from the side
OK my friends, hope you will give it a try...I will be posting in the days ahead some more about ATC's so be on the look out...

ReplyDeleteHi Bibiana,
ReplyDeleteThanks for looking at my blog and your nice comment. I was wondering about the technique you used on those adorable little pumpkins from Memory Box. I have those dies myself, and I was wondering how do you make them look dimensional, almost glittery and shadowed? How do you ink them or color them to make them stand out? Your designs are so lovely, I'd love to try them at home since I have so many Memory Box dies. Thanks for sharing a tip.
