Advent Card, made in a Tee Pee Shaped Card

Hello My Dear Friends:

I had to make 2 separate posts today...

one to commemorate the starting of the Advent season with this card
and the second to announce the challenge # 10 at Lavinia Stamps,
(scroll down to see my 1st post of the day)...

Advent is here!
it starts on the 1st Sunday right after November 30 and ends on Christmas Eve.  It marks the beginning of the Christmas season, it is a time for waiting (from the Latin Adventus = coming) and
preparation for the  celebration of the nativity of Jesus at Christmas.

I wanted to share again this advent card that I featured back in July for the release of the Holiday Collection 2013 of Memory Box dies and stamps ...because today is the first day of Advent!

I created this card in  a TEE PEE shape...that can be sent flat by mail or offered to a special someone...

Advent cards/ calendars are an invention of the 19th century and were created in Germany...

I personally, discovered them through a dear German friend back in my early student years in Europe and since then I follow this tradition..

Each member of my family has one handmade advent calendar, we fill the openings for each other and we open each window every day, counting the days until Christmas time...

I wanted  to make a FREE candy version advent calendar so I created this TEE PEE and  included Christmas sayings to read every day instead of having the usual gift or candy...this one is for my husband, he now has 2 advent calendars, one with some candies on it and this one with only the sayings ... good for the diet :)

Some other day, I will post my other advent calendars...

if you want to learn how to make it

You still have time to start a new tradition or start for next year...I would love to see your Creations!!! let me know if you make one of these...and remember to scroll down to see my first post of today: Lavinia stamps has a Challenge going on...

Thanks for the visit...
& I am so Excited that Christmas season starts officially today!...
