Hello My Dear Stamper Friends:
Last Thursday, I posted this card at the French Blog: "Un Brin De Créativité" for Memory Box as part as my contributions as a Design team member.
This post had a lot of success and I really thank all my french speaking friends, "mes copinautes" that always comment on the french blog and are contributing to the success of that blog...
They, as well, come and visit me HERE in my personal one ...So "
Un grand MERCI pour elles" and and a HUGE thank you
of course to
ALL of you (whatever nationality, you are) ...I know how life can be busy and taking the time to write a little something means the world to me...
I wanted to make a card depicting camping, since all our summer vacations are really by now done. I used several "earthy" textures like the burlap for the back panels, the wood embellishments, the corduroy button with some baker's twine and some "Flower Soft" to mimic mounds of grass...
but can you tell me why is it a "recycled" forest?
can you see the pines? in what are they died cut?
Well... I used "7Up!" bottles to cut these pines and they worked marvelously...
I had to secure very well the plastic to the die (I scotch it) and I passed the sandwich several times in the machine, (I use my "Cuttlebug"...but I am sure that you can practice this with any of the die cut machines that you are using right now) and one of my French commentators,
Munette, said that we can even color clear plastic bottles with alcohol inks or some other permanent inks...so now the choice are endless...
I used a modified version of the original
"Stair Step card" shape as mine has less cuts and folds...this version is easier to make ... I wanted to showcase these pines and make a little forest...so that is how I choose this shape...and the family of deers are so perfect too!
1- cut your cardstock CS* @ 4 1/4" X 11"
2- score CS @ 2 1/2" ; 5" ; 6 6/8"; 8 1/2"; 9 3/4"
3- decorate
This type of card can be sent to a man as it has a more "masculine" feeling and even if you do not use this same shape, you can still use all these items and make a masculine card: burlap, wood, twine brown colors etc...and "recycled" plastic bottles!!!
here is a view from the side...
I think the trees look amazing and the transparency gives a light touch!
I am even thinking in doing some other projects using more Bottles...How about some flowers? or butterflies?
The card folds flat to be mailed... although nowadays with all the restrictions at the post office it makes it more difficult but not impossible!
We, card makers have to keep sending mail through regular mail !!!...we have to keep alive this old tradition furthermore it is so much satisfactory to received a hand made card than an e-mail, don't you think?
And I referring of course as well to my last post...where I got to received all those wonderful handmade cards from some of you my friends from very far away...
Anyways I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed making the card and thinking how to use these "recycled" bottles...
Thanks for the visit, leave me a comment if you have some little extra time and see you next time for another card...
