German Mirror with DecoArt

Hello Dear Friends:

I would like to share this German Mirror painting that I made....using my DecoArt Americana Acrylic paints.

The design of this mirror is inspired from a piece painted in 1837, by an unknown artist.
The style is know as "Bauernmalerei", or Folk farmer's painting, found in the areas of Bavaria, Austria and the Swiss Alps.
It was re-designed and taught by my Decorative Painting Teacher Carl Larson.

Note: ***His piece was an "old baroque mirror", so I decided to choose a more "affordable" (the mirror is from IKEA)  and "modern" shape (square) for my project.
I "twisted a little" his original design in order to fit his design in a square shape and choose some different flowers and scrolls than his.

We started in class and we painted it for several weeks
1st you seal the wood,
then you paint the background with black
then trace pattern
and finally start painting all the designs.
when Finished erase lines from pattern and varnish with 2 or 3 coats

In "Bauernmalerei" or "Bavarian Folk art" style of painting; the backgrounds are traditionally painted in dark hues such as green or black.
The flowers in yellows and reds such as roses and tulips, are traditional from this style.
And Scrolls are many times included in this style of painting
