St. Patrick's Green Hat Lapel Pin

Hello Dear Crafty friends:

Today, we are celebrating
Saint Patrick's day!

and as it is customary to wear something green on this day, I will be wearing this wood Green Hat Lapel Pin that I painted using my "DecoArt" acrylic paints...

Here are the supplies used: wood pieces, acrylic "DecoArt" paints, "Metallics" acrylic paint in green and glitter!

I bought these wood shapes at Michael's (retailer store for Arts and Crafts here in the USA)...

I base coat the entire pieces with cream paint "buttermilk", added some green around
and draw roughly with a white charcoal pen the shamrocks (3 heart shapes with a stem) using a small round brush #2

used 3 different greens to give shades and depth, add scrolls
to the big scroll I added silver glitter on the edge (with a glue pen, add glitter, shake excess and let dry..same process as if it was on paper for a card)

TIP:
when covering a large area, I place the paint directly onto my piece on the center!
Then with the brush I distribute evenly the paint all over.

This avoids putting paint on the palette and you are making sure that you are covering the entire piece evenly!

I give 2 to 3 coats for good coverage, let dry and glue a pin (photo above supplies) on the back to be used as a lapel pin!

I added some dots and more white glitter around the scrolls and the edge of the hat  using the glue pen.

Finish By giving 3 coats of clear "DecoArt" Varnish (satin), the glitter will not come off and it protects the painted pin.

if you do not want to use it as a lapel pin, here it is another idea...

This project is a fun one to make and also a good idea for a gift.
They are quite easy and quick to paint as they are small...

To see more fun cards and projects for this day;

Thanks for the visit and
Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
